My Creative Space - Doing it Retro

It has been a while since I participated in My Creative Space Day - But since I'm posting this on a Thursday I thought it was a fitting entry to the Space Day.

This is my entry to TasArt - a major art competition in our region with good prize money. It has a rigorous selection process and I have been hung multiple times in the past but also rejected on a few occasions.  Its always a place I go to try out my new work -  see the response to the work - and see if it gets hung. Every time I enter TasArt my style has evolved - yet again - therefore I never know quite what the reaction will be. Instagram has been a great way to gauge response to new works - it's instant and honest.

This work was done on paper then attatched to a large (1 metre by 1.5 metre) canvas. Yet another big work - will I ever learn? No.

I have used old book papers - material scraps - coffee sacks - paint and glue.
It will be for sale at TasArt and perhaps on my page after the competition but I do very much want to include this work in my home...at least for now till my style changes again - no wonder I have problems committing to a tattoo.

I have been struggling with Shellacking it to seal it (plus it will give it a yellow vintage tinge) and/or adding small fine flowers in to the background in places. However after asking that question on Instagram last night I think the consensus was to leave it simple - simple is good - simple works for me as well. ...for now at least. I never know when something is finished and/or when to stop..... Ahhh!! stupid art...I spend more time thinking about it than creating it.
