Cape it

Whilst on my holiday in Adelaide I sat outside a pub in town - right near American Apparel. In the window was a cape - it was red with a hood - just like little Red Riding Hood. I wanted it - it was cold. It was late night shopping so I went and tried it on - how much I wanted that cape right then. However it was made from cheap fleece and it was WAY out of my budget.

When I returned home I was desperate to find a pattern and make my first cape. I found one or four patterns I liked - not any that were perfect to make the one I really wanted. However I made this one - it is an up cycled purple blanket and a thrifted vintage sheet for the details. I have, since this picture, put on some snap fasteners to do it up securely along the front.

I wont be keeping it for myself - I will be selling it online or through the market for $120. I will be endevoring to make my dream cape soon. I just need the most perfect material first.

Till then - in caped dreams - I will persist with my disastrous grey dress making and attempt to put in my first invisible zipper....sigh.

Hello :) love this colour and I really like the strips up the front to have an outward facing for the slits. Are they faced on the inside or did you bring it all through to the front? LOVE LOVE
