Rock 'n' Roll Baby

Look at the pretty dress i made.....Matching clutch as well..now for somewhere to wear it....

My inspiration was to make a dress from a 1950's pattern i found in a second hand shop....but i wanted to make it look punky....the final pattern i had to shorten the skirt length and bring the top in with a few more pleats....due to my excess shelving allowance on my top half and the aversion to wearing anything that resembles a sack.

I chose, with some help from fellow sewer Claire, some fabric from Spotlight. A cute little checked red fabric and some black poka dot for the outer and plain black for under skirt.

Oh it's so cute...where ever will i find somewhere to wear it....its been in my wardrobe for a few months now and still not been able to find something to wear it too...such a waste!! Soon my darling..soon you will be allowed to dance!!

Love it! Christ I wish I could sew! I'm itching to check out some decent vintage when I get to the UK - it's really hard to find anything good in Tassie. I've got dreams of learning to sew properly & being able to knock up something from an old pattern like this!

You look great - don't forget to take pics when you do get to wear her out! If you get desperate, you could always throw an old-fashioned dinner party, 50s style!
