My Creative Space

For the past few weeks i have been working on a mini quilt. I have been inspired recently by the idea of turning craft into art. I want to compare the difference between craft and art, and i want to make them of same equal merit, so there is no difference between the two skills. I want to make this a series of three mini quits, Each with its own design, and hang them on the wall as art. The background wall will eventually be white and the poles will be stained very dark. But all in good time.

This one is created onto a grey woolen blanket, fabric and embroidered details. Shaped into a branch with wind and berry like objects hanging from underneath.
The only thing i am not happy with is how the branch blends into the background.....i may have to do something else to that part yet.
I so have a thing for yellow and grey right now. I am even painting in yellow and grey (some new works to come out soon).

I also finally finished the work i was doing on the salon walls at "Revolution" in Burnie. My art work hanging on the walls....

And the mural in the waiting area.

Hope you had a lovely creative week Check out kootoyo for more creative space genious.x

Great! 'lellow is totally under-utilised in my opinion. -loving the spiral stitching too! Spirals being a personal talisman of mine.

I like where your going with the quilting as art thing. Have you considered silk thread? It may be just the thing to make the branches stand out with a subtle shiny-ness.... and I love your mural wall (green is my fav colour, so there!). Have a great day.

WOW I ♥ the mural!! I am really loving your concept with the quilts and I am sure that they will make a fabulous triptych. Looking forward to seeing all three. I am a believer that there is a very fine line between craft and art. I know others think they they are completely different and cannot be compared.
