Localisms
Today was our local agricultural show. It's a true country show with proper traditional style. As locals we have a few traditions ourselves such as "must do at least one lap", "don't collect Lions Club tickets till you are about to leave the grounds" and "it usually rains on show day" (it did).
Highlights:
*Lions Club tickets - where you buy a ticket and you are always a winner. Today I "won" potatoes - onions - apples - carrots - a hat - a stubbie -hair slides - tulip bulbs and a desert at a local pub.
*The giant pumpkin growing competition - I have always wants to attempt this, maybe next year will be my year.
*The flower displays - the chooks - the cooking
*The animal nursery
Featured today - I watched a man use a chainsaw to cut an eagle out of a chunk of wood - little girl could finally enjoy side show ally (well the bumper cars and jumping castle), proper food (not just dink-em-dogs), Red Kelly wine, a proper puppet show.
Lowlight:
*Carrying three bags of potatoes - two bags of apples - one bag of carrots and onions back to the car.
Freebies - Loads of political bull crap but loves my new shopping list compliments of the pollies
It was a very good day
