DIY Chair Upholstery

I've had this chair in my woman cave for a while with big plans for a make over. She has great bones and lovely wavy lines.

Picking fabric from my hoard collection was excruciating.

I started with the cushion to set the tone for the chair {and it was the easiest bit} then I started using some interfacing to trace some of the shapes. I cut out the fabric for the sides and attached the long middle strips then traced the inside panels and cut. After I sewed those on I turned it inside out and placed them on the chair.

I pinned and pinned and adjusted and pinned till it fitted a lot better.

I sewed and tucked then traced the back panel and attached that.

I pinned and pinned and adjusted and pinned till it fitted a lot better.

I turned it back the right way onto the chair and started to stable gun bits to the chair to begin the tightening process.

I pinned and pinned and adjusted and hand sewed till it fitted a lot better.

I kept working - sewing - pinning - tucking - stapling till it was sitting a huge amount better. The last seam was to connect the back panel on the front to the back panel on the back.

Thank goodness that's over. I adore it. I love it but I don't think I will be taking it up as a job in the near future. It was very challenging and very fiddly - I don't do fiddly {often}.

I am now eying off the less challenging chairs in dire need of a make over. Tee hee :) Got to love an old girl with great bones.

Michelle this is AMAZING. and a great way to show off and be able to enjoy those vintage linens everyday. Have you seen the tea towel covered chairs too? I'm jealous.
upholstery is not one of my favourite things to do either but it was so worth it in your case. x
